These two have split their meetings…Isner winning the last at this year’s Australian Open in 4 setsEdouard Roger-Vasselin – will face Janko Tipsarevic (who is coming off a strong showing in Montreal in his first Masters SF). They have never played an ATP level tournament but they have met in Challengers where Tipsarevic won both times. They have not met in a match since Samarkand in 2006.Kei Nishikori – will face David Nalbandian. This will be a first meeting.Marsel Ilhan – will face (WC) Grigor Dimitrov. This will be a first meeting between the two young players.Julien Benneteau – will face Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. This match will be their 5th meeting…each coming in with 2 wins. Garcia-Lopez had the last win in 2010 at Eastbourne…a 3 setter that ended in a tiebreak.Ernests Gulbis – will face Ivan Dodig. They have only met once before in 2009 at Zagreb which went to Dodig. Both players are having a good summer so this could be a first round to pay attention to. Either one of the guys could be a spoiler.Alex Bogomolov, Jr – will face (WC) Robby Ginepri. The last time these two met was in 2009 at Indy where Ginepri won easily. Bogie is a much improved player since that summer. These two play similar style from the baseline so the last thing this match will have is short rallies.This week at Cinci is a combined tournament with WTA so there will be no shortage of stories.
