Falk sweeps two Langley Late Model races; Balluzzo wins a pair of Modified 30s (complete Saturday results included)

HAMPTON — Points leader C.E. Falk racked up his 10th and 11th wins of the season, sweeping the Twin 50-lap Late Model races -- the featured events of Saturday evening’s NASCAR program at Langley Speedway.  In the opener, Falk took the lead for good on lap 13 and sailed to the win.  Wes Falk, C.E.’s younger brother, started on the pole, at 88.725 mph, and set the pace for the first 10 circuits.  On the restart following the first caution flag, at lap 11, C.E. Falk nosed ahead to lead for the first time. Wes rallied on lap 12, but gave way to his sibling on the next lap.  While C.E. Falk pulled away, Wes Falk continued to hold down second place until lap 32, when he fell off the pace and headed to the pits.  Wes Falk’s exit turned the second spot over to Greg Edwards, who tailed the leader to the checkered flag.C.E. Falk won by six lengths over Edwards. Casey Wyatt, Shayne Lockhart and Brandon Gdovic completed the top five.  In the second 50-lapper, C.E. Falk survived an early-race dust-up with Edwards, took the lead on lap 4, then overwhelmed the field to complete the sweep.  Falk and Edwards shared the front row for the start of the event and tangled in Turns 1 and 2 on the opening circuit, allowing Wyatt to swipe the top spot. The only caution flag appeared on lap 2 for a multi-car mess in Turn 2 that swept up nearly two-thirds of the 15-car field.  Back under green, Falk shadowed Wyatt for a lap, then flashed past on the fourth circuit.  By the finish, Falk’s winning margin had grown to nearly three seconds over runner-up Brandon Gdovic. Wyatt was third, followed by Lockhart and Doug Godsey.MODIFIEDIn Twin 30s for the Modifieds, Shawn Balluzzo notched his fourth and fifth wins to pull off the sweep.  In the first race, Balluzzo twice rallied from the back of the pack. He took the lead from Anthony Kincaid on lap 27 and won by half a straightaway.  Kincaid was second, while Joe Scarbrough, Todd VanGuilder and Mike Rudy completed the top five.  The nightcap wasn’t nearly such a struggle for Balluzzo as he started on the pole and led all the way. He won by more than half a straightaway over Robbie Babb. Chris Johnson, Scarbrough and VanGuilder rounded out the top five.SUPER STREETRitchie German moved out front on lap 10 and posted his fifth victory of the season in the first of two 25-lap Super Street events.  Sean Calway was the runner-up, half a straightaway behind, followed by Jamie Sample, Ryan Nester and Chris Roberts.  In the second race, Randy Sample assumed the lead on lap 22 and strolled to his fourth win of the season.  German and Calway held down first and second until tangling on lap 22 and handing the top spot to Sample.Randy Sample won by three lengths over John Pereira.
